The NBA is the professional basketball league in North America. The NBA is a huge corporation made up of 30 men`s franchise teams, 12 W-NBA teams and 16 NBA Development League teams. Teams and league are a multi-billion dollar industry. The league and each individual team offer internships to students who are academically strong and passionate about basketball. The internships are all in New York or Secaucus, New Jersey. Internships last ten weeks and interns participate in events and activities that allow them to learn how the NBA business really works. The BLM program is designed to support the legal diversity pipeline in keeping with the section`s stated mission to increase the diversity of outside counsel and expand the pipeline of Black people entering the legal profession. The program provides education, exposure, and opportunities to diverse students who face the challenge of securing quality employment by working with legal departments and law firms that advocate for more meaningful steps to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. In addition, NBA-CLS and NBCUniversal will jointly offer a $10,000 scholarship to each NBCUniversal intern. NBCUniversal invites 1L and 2L students with a proven interest or previous experience in entertainment, news and/or media to apply for the 10-week summer internship. NBCUniversal meets with all final candidates and arranges internships directly with selected students. Matching by other organizations is limited and employment opportunities and all scholarships or fellowships are managed by the participating organizations.
